Athletics


Cheerleading Tryouts
Tryouts for Winter Cheerleading will be held on Monday, December 1 through Thursday, December 4 from 3pm-5pm in the cafeteria.
The Winter cheerleading squad will be filled with extremely enthusiastic, highly school-spirited athletes who are committed to leading their crowds at our Girls and Boys Basketball Games. Prospective athletes must be able to practice every day after school, attend every basketball game and participate in community outreach during the winter season. See Mrs. Cardarelli for the proper med forms needed for tryouts as soon as possible. No one without a med form will be allowed to tryout. Contact Coach Leeds should you have any questions… fliers around the school will have all contact information. See you at tryouts! Go Indians!



Girls Basketball Tryouts
Girls Basketball tryouts will be on Monday, November 24th. 10th, 11th, and 12th graders will be at 3:00 in the main gym and Freshman will be at 6:00. Med forms need to be turned in to Mrs. Carderelli before tryouts.



Guidance


Military Recruiter Visit to MHS
A recruiter from the Marine Corp will be visiting MHS on 12/02/14, at 9:30AM. Sign up in Naviance, under college visit, or in the Guidance Office, Rm. 117.


Mcc Partnership Program
Seniors and juniors with a B average can earn college credit now for free, through the MCC Partnership Program. Registration for the spring semester is due by December 12th. See your guidance counselor or Mr. Snuffer to learn more about the MCC Partnership Program and to get registration information.



Performing Arts


Spring Musical Auditions
The Manchester High School Performing Arts Department is proud to announce our upcoming Spring Musical, "Kiss Me, Kate," one of the most popular shows in the Broadway repertoire. Auditions for "Kiss Me, Kate" are Monday, December 1, and Tuesday, December 2, beginning at 3:30PM in Bailey Auditorium. Please sign up for an audition slot outside of Mr. Tyler's office in the Performing Arts Wing. Join us, and be a part of a Manchester tradition of excellence!



Scholarships


Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship
Apply online at Hood.com. Must be college bound, varsity athlete, GPA 3.0 or higher and have done community service. Deadline - 3/6/15.


US JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship
Graduating high school seniors in the State of CT. Information and applications are available in the Guidance Office, Rm. 117, or online at www.ctjcisenate.org. Deadline - 1/9/15.


DAR Scholarship
Graduating high school senior, male or female, in the top 25% of his/her class. Information in the Guidance Office, rm. 117. Deadline - 5/1/15.



Student Activities


Blood Drive
Hello MHS! Would you like to save a life? Well, here is your chance, join us on Wednesday or Thursday, December 3rd & 4th for our Annual Blood Drive!
Did you know that 1 pint of blood can save the life of up to three people? What a way to make difference.

Student volunteers will be available in the cafeteria for sign-ups. Donors must be at least 17 years old, students and staff are encourage to participate in helping us reach our goal. Come on MHS let’s save some lives!



Turkey Bowl Results
Thank you to all who came out and supported either the Junior or Senior class at the Turkey Bowl Game. Final score Sr's 18/Jr's 6. Based on the number of cans collected at the game The canned Goods Award went to the juniors who collected over 240 cans and the seniors collected 220 . Overall, the school collected 460 cans that will be donated to the MACC Food Pantry. In addition, $470 was collected and will be donated to MACC . The Sportsmanship Award was given to the juniors. The Spirit Award goes out to the seniors. Great job to all that participated.


Mandatory Ski Club Safety Meeting
The Ski and Snowboard Club will be holding a Safety Meeting on December 3rd at 3pm in room 293 that is MANDATORY for all member who signed up for the weekly trips to Ski Sundown. If you have any questions please contact Miss Chucta, Ms. Raynor or Mrs. Wabble.


Ambassador Club Meeting
There will be an Ambassador Club meeting on Thursday Dec 4, 2014. After school 2:15-3:15 in room 293
We will be working on our first project...naming the hallways. Please join us! All students welcome! Be a positive role model for MHS!



Be the Change Group
The "Be the Change" group will be holding a food drive to collect items for Thanksgiving boxes. The drive will run from Tuesday November 18th to Wednesday November 26th during pour hour in the cafe. The Thanksgiving boxes will be donated to families in need in the Manchester area. Posters will be displayed throughout the building listing the specific foods we are looking for, but we will accept all donations! Help out a family in need this holiday season!
