Academics


CHEA Academy
The CHEA Academy will be having a kick-off meeting on Thursday September 4th during Power Hour A, outside in the courtyard. We will meet near the culinary rooms. We will be introducing ourselves to you and getting your T-shirt sizes and contact information. This will be a quick meeting with important information!



Athletics


Head Cheerleading Coach
Open Tryouts for Fall Cheerleading will be held Monday, September 8 through Thursday, September 11 from 3pm-5pm in G47.
There’s still a chance to make the team! We are looking for extremely enthusiastic, highly school-spirited student athletes who are committed to leading their crowds at our Football Games. Both girls and boys who can practice every day after school, can cheer Saturday morning JV games and participate in community outreach during the fall season are welcome to tryout. See Mrs. Cardarelli for the required med forms needed for tryouts as soon as possible. No one without a med form will be allowed to tryout.




Driver Education


Drivers Education
Want to get your Drivers License? If you are 16, you are eligible for the driver Education class offered at Manchester High School. Classes begin in September and space is limited. Registration forms are available in the guidance office.



Guidance


NEACAC College Fair
Juniors and Seniors! On September 7th, Western New England University will be hosting the NEACAC College Fair from 4-6pm. About 200 colleges, universities and post-secondary institutions will be present. This college fair takes places on campus at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. Prior to the college fair, there will be an Admissions and Financial Aid Information Session from 3-3:45pm. This is a great opportunity to gain information about colleges and their admissions requirements, and speak with admissions counselors! Any questions, see your counselor.



Performing Arts


Roundtable
The Manchester High School Roundtable Singers are holding auditions for this year's ensemble. It's now your chance to be a part of a 77-year tradition of musical excellence. Auditions will be held during Power Hour from Tuesday, September 2 to Friday, September 5, and after school on Tuesday, September 2 and Thursday, September 4. Sign up for an audition time outside of Mr. Tyler's office in the Performing Arts Wing.


Sock N Buskin
Sock & Buskin, the Drama Club of Manchester High School, will be holding its first informational meeting on Friday, September 5 at 2:30 in Room 15. We will elect officers, go over our productions for the year, play some theatre games, discuss Homecoming, and even enjoy a few refreshments. Be dramatic!! Please join us!


Sock N Buskin
Sock & Buskin is proud to announce our Fall Production - Moises Kaufman's "The Laramie Project," a first-hand account of the death of Matthew Shepard.

Auditions for "The Laramie Project" will be held on Monday, September 8 and Tuesday, September 9, at 3:30 pm in Bailey Auditorium. Sign up for an audition spot outside of Mr. Tyler's office in the Performing Arts Wing. You can also take a packet which contains all the script pages we will use during the auditions.

Handbell Choir
Did you know that Manchester High School has the only public school Handbell Choir in the state of Connecticut?
We do!
And did you know that you can become a part of it?
You can!
The MHS Handbell Choir will hold our first informational meeting on Wednesday, September 10 at 2:30 in Room 15. No experience is necessary - just bring a willingness to bravely learn. You won't believe your ears!!



Roundtable
The MHS Roundtable Singers could use your help, and we have an important question for you:

Feel like going to Wendy's?

On Friday, September 12, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, Wendy's (260 Broad Street) will be donating 15% of its total sales to the MHS Roundtable Singers. All you need to do is bring one of our flyers with you, which you can get from any RTS member, or from Mr. Tyler.

So, go have a burger and a frosty. And thanks for your support!!



MHS Tech Crew
The MHS Performing Arts Stage\Tech crew will have it's first meeting on Wednesday Sept. 3rd in Bailey Auditorium at 2:30 pm.
All are welcome to come and get information on the stage\tech crew.
Current members are encouraged to bring a friend or 2 to the meeting with you.




Student Activities


Welcome Back Dance
How would you like to be eligable to win some real cool prizes like tshirts, Sno Ball Dance tickets, tickets to Miss MHS, just to name a few. Well for just $3.00 you can buy a ticket to the Welcome Back Dance during power hour in the Student Activities Office. Tickets will be sold Sept. 5th - Sept 12th. The dance will be on Sept 13th from 7:30 - 10:30 in the MHS Cafe. So don't miss out MHS, let's make this a dance to remember. Come meet new friends or reminisce with your old friends. The first 100 tickets sold will receive a free gift.


Freshmen Class Advisor
Attention all freshmen! Will we be holding a class meeting on Thursday September 4th at 2:15pm in the upper café. We will be discussing some important upcoming events for your class such as: class board elections, homecoming, and fundraising opportunities. Start your high school career on the right foot by getting involved! The more involved you are, the better your high school experience will be! Please visit your class advisor, Mrs. Robak, in Room 219 if you have any questions. I hope to see you all there!
